Stochastic Local Search Algorithms for Structural Proteomics

Welcome

SAPro - "Stochastic Local Search Algorithms for Structural Proteomics" is a research project funded by the EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) under reference number EP/D062012/1.

Project Summary

The scope of our project is the Protein Structure Prediction problem (PSP), one of the most challenging problems in modern biochemistry. Protein Structure Prediction a high interdisciplinary subject, where one can find contributors from biochemistry, physics and medicine, investigating the processes that govern protein folding. Protein folding, though can be reduced to a combinatorial optimization problem under certain assumptions. Thus it can be tackled as a computational problem, where the question is whether algorithmic processes are parallel to natural processes. (Read more)

Project Goals

The specific goals of our project are:

We also focus on justifying our results with real examples and creating a framework for future research in this field. (Read more)
